Big Business Backing Paris Bid

Eight of the largest companies in France have pledged 12 million euros to support Paris's bid to host the 2012 Olympic Games.

The eight companies are Accor, Bouygues, Credit Agricole, EDF, France Telecom, Lagardere, Renault and RATP. Paris is currently the favourite to win the 2012 Olympic Games, though it faces serious competition from New York, Moscow, Rio de Janeiro, Leipzig, Havana, Istanbul and, especially, Madrid.
