Assassination by missile attack, not even a sniper's bullet or poisoned stiletto. Med Blue's Oxford English Dictionary defines assassination as "the taking the life of anyone by treacherous violence,
esp. by a hired emissary or volunteer." The treacherous violence fits, but seeing as how the Israelis didn't even have the decency to hire an emissary or find a volunteer, why don't we just call it murder?

There is no doubt that Israel had reason to hate Sheikh Ahmed Yasin, founder of the terrorist group Hamas. But by this cowardly killing, Israel abandons all pretence to be a state founded on law, and puts itself so far beyond the pale it may never get back. Didn't these guys' mothers tell them that two wrongs don't make a right?
