Greece - Introduction

Once the centre of a great ancient culture, modern Greece is a classic tourist destination, combining the lotus-eating appeal of its islands and coastline with the attraction of its history. This year, 2004, is especially important as the Olympic Games are to be held there for the first time since the modern Olympics began, in 1896.
